What is the difference between a 2 and 3 piece system?
Can you change from a 3 to a 2 piece?
Is there a benefit or disadvantage if you change from a 3 to a 2 piece?
Is it easy to change from 3 to a 2 piece?
Thanks

The main difference is that one is in two pieces, while the other is in three.
You can change, but you have to replace the complete system. You can't mix and match.
There's no advantage in either system.
Changing is as easy as undoing bolts that have been rusted on for 25 years, snapping off a few manifold studs, drilling the remants out of the engine head, helicoiling the repairs, then fitting the other manifold for the alternative system. Piece of p!ss.

Well that is the reason I am asking, I was thinking of getting an entire new system so was wondering if I should change to a 2 piece.
I have been quoted £1242 for a full 3 piece so I guess I should check the price of a full 2 piece...

6 branch manifolds are usually designed to fit a 3 piece system...Grrrmachine wrote:There's no advantage in either system.
I know there are two different cast manifolds with slightly different stud spacing, but are there any other differences? My brothers touring had a 3 piece and (for MOT time) I swapped my good 2 piece on to it, but I didn't need to change the manifold.Grrrmachine wrote: then fitting the other manifold for the alternative system.
