what are M42 engines worth nowadays?
I'm thinking in the future removing the 1.6 m40 I have and using the M42 with the 1.6 box on it.
Also how hard is it to swop the engines and wiring etc?
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

obivously there worth a bit more the standard 1.6 or 1.8 cause the engines 16valve, but dont no how much for sure. they are harder to come by as well.
My 318is M42 engine sump sits lower to the ground than my 318i M10 engine. Doesnt make a difference in the engine bay but speed humps are more of a challenge, it sits just a little bit forward of the front wheels. Check this 318is website out http://www.esatclear.ie/~bpurcell/ the guy knows his 318is stuff. He's got all the info on the engine that you could want.

Happy reading.
