Can you believe this guy got rid of this beauty for £1000 ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-BMW-325- ... true&rt=nc
Crazy. I had been looking at it for a week, itching to bid. Should have called him
Called him today and he told me he got rid of it for £1000.00 and the guy who bought it got a "catch".
I was like WTF!
How much do you guys think I'll be paying for a decent tech 1 sport with zero rust ? I'll be in the market for one this summer (for keeps)

+1 & for £1k it will be a basket case & I'm sure Pete would offer to do the autopsy

if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Whats the real story ?
Was the guy trolling me on the phone ?
He told me there was zero rust on the car and he had extensive pictures to prove it. Only a lil left in the boot.
Do you guys know this man ? He sounded like a foreigner.

Well ?I am saving my pennies. Hopefully find one here

.
Im not a total noob unaware of the market price.
Market PRice here :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-325-I ... true&rt=nc
The only tech 1 sport currently being sold on the net is this one :
http://www.odaviscars.com/stockdetails.asp?StockID=5603
I could start saving for that to purchase next year

heh.
I realistically wanna pay approx 4K for a rust free model.

The car is scrap, it has a rare (not!) prototype speedometer that goes backwards twenty to thirty thousand miles at a time and this strange phenomenem has allegedly occurred several times.
The seller was winding you up because he is undoubtably sick and tired of the aggro that selling a worn out rusty patched up sh1tter brings with people expecting a 4-5k car for £1800.
He probably fragged it , I would have

What makes you think £2650 is the 'market price' ?
If you really want a Tech 1 , you better start saving and hope that the 10k one is still available . If it is as nice as it sounds / should be , it will work out a better deal than trying to make a tired old 160k rusty w4nker into a nice car. Ask any one here who has tried 'restoring' the average 3-4k turd that 'needs minor TLC'

You won't get a rust free one for 4 large. I'm sure the seller will tell you it's rust free but take it to Pete's for an autopsy first

Indeed putting a tech 1 right can run into the thousands.... so I'm told.
The Internet - It has proven to be worthless, and is nothing but a repository for perverts.

The last person who bought a Tech 1 ,without getting me to check it over , despite being warned and given a check list , was rather upset when I took £1500 off him to make it safe/reliable/usable and told him to budget another 3-4k to make it decent and watertight

Thanks for the wake up call. Is it that bad ?

or do you just seek perfection ?
So impossible to find a tech 1 sport without rust for under 5k ? Unless one gets lucky I suppose

You only have to look at Some of the tech1 restoration threads on here to get an idea of the lurking horrors and huge money pits these cars can be.

Just saw this thread
So he finally managed to get rid of this car? he has been trying to sell it since late October.
I was hoping to force a sale from him this time for £1,400 and mess with it for a bit till I could get a tech1 worth restoring. Shame I didn't check ebay the past few days but don't for one second think it was rust free Laher as the work done on this car is a bodge job.
He sent me a few pictures last time and I personally think the rust wasn't treated just covered up.

Barry iv'e found a new home for it,

. Iv'e just got the ecu out of limp and the motorsport abs/dsc all working so all the research and development side of the project is pretty much done. Next on the agenda was the engine out n full body job, but i got tempted by something else so after nearly 14yrs ownership looks like were gonna part company

. But im sure someone else will enjoy it as much as i have and get a bargain too, as the shell is nothing like all the Tech 1's that are restored on here, its 90% original and the least rusty resto iv'e seen!

Oh the diff broke, those wheels are nasty and the steering wheel is yuck, read his ebay feedback and looks like he sold turds to people most of the time.

Why oh why do people put the whole repair panel pressing in when replacing an outer rear arch?!!!!!
That is such a nasty retarded way to go about that repair!

Thanks for this fella. I was thinking of ringing him just to find out more about the "restoration", so posting the pictures is much appreciated.

Completely agree Barry, it shows poor standards of work carried out. Rather than take time and accurately cut the panel to a reasonable shape he just welded the whole panel on a˜¤
