m50 MAF MOUNTING MADNESS

Okay so I cut all my air box mounts off out of my bay as I'm going for a cone filter straight on the MAF of my M50 B25


Question is will it mechanically make any difference which way up the MAF is mounted? I want to twist it to the right 90 degrees to hide the wiring and plug..

As I'm making a new mount this will have to be made to suite which ever way up the MAF is turned so before I make it Could anyone confirm it will still function properly??

Do you know if it will still work on its side? I've had 1.8t's with MAF's upside down before but just wanted to check.. its purely aesthetics in mind

To me, it would look wrong upside down, but it probably would work perfectly ok

You may find that an after market maf can cause you cold start fluctuating revs, took me a while to find out the culprit on mine just a heads up

Its a genuine bosch Maf! the problem I had was that I had absolutely no way of securing it or the air filter! as id cut off all original mounts for the air box! its all sorted now thanks

As you have no ABS pump down there why not just fit the E36 airbox?

Haha being 21 I Prefer boy racer cone filters! Won't really rag it through puddles after all this so shouldn't ever be a problem

It's just going to be sucking in warm air from the engine bay though. BMW air boxes are very well designed.
