Okay I am not one to write pages and pages, I believe that a picture speaks a thousand words so I will show you a bit of the work I have done so far. I picked up a rolling shell a 1990 calypso red 316i good starting point.

Image

Got a surprise when I opened the bonnet, a rather "interesting" choice of colour.

Image

After some searching on ebay I came across a nice example of an M60b40 from an E38 740i 1994 with 95K on it. Popped down to pick it up with my mate Neil, It's a beast of a lump.

Image

When it came to sourcing a gearbox, I opted for a 6 speed unit from an E39 M5 as i wanted that extra gear.

Just about filled the boot of a fiesta :O
Image

My working space is very limited, however I trial fitted the box to the lump.

Image

Looks all sorts of epic in my opinion :D

I have taken the axles and subframe had these shot blasted and powdercoated, and begun to polybush most of the parts.

Image

Image

with regards the front subframe this has had reinforcement plates welded on to the arb mounting points and the engine mounting points.

I also sourced an E46 quick rack and bolted this up to the subframe just need to swap the tie rods over for E30 items.

Image

This is the suspension and brake setup I plan on using I picked up these coilovers for a reasonable price on ebay complete with adjustable top mounts too WIN :D

Image

The brakes I want to use are the Brembo 4 pot calipers from an E38 which were freshly refurbished (used my 3GS for size comparison they are massive!)

Image

Image

This is what it all looks like with 312mm Audi TT discs redrilled to 4x100 PCD

Image

Just need to measure up the mounting holes so I can get a bracket fabricated to bolt them to the struts.

Once the E30 is rolling again I will get the various bits of welding done that is needed then fully protect the underside.

Then the fun can really begin! Looking forward to continuing the project and welcome any input from the Zoners :)

I couldn't afford the true bolt on kits like the wilwood ones so an OEM+ option was best bet.

Should stop nicely i have an M5 master cylinder and servo setup that I plan on mounting inside the car where the glovebox would be seen it done before and like that idea.

Ah nice one, what you doing to yours ? V8?

Will be using the 16" Keskin KT1 alloys staggered setup up 7.5J up front 9J rears ... still got plenty of tread left on the rubber too!

Just need a spacer as caliper fouls the inner face somewhat :/

I've not got measurements sorted yet but I did come across a bracket drawn up with measurements for the 312mm discs using E32 / E34 calipers which looks interesting.

http://bmw-e30.net/e32e34-front-caliper ... 2mm-disks/

If anyone has any input on this it'd be much appreciated
