Do you know of 7.5j et20 will fit an e30 and look ok or will they need spacers?

Yes they will, I'm running an 8j et25 on the front which is fine

205/50 tyres may be a better bet on that wheel than the OEM 205/55 if the car has been lowered

There a set of 17's on the net with tyres that are 205/40/17 . Would these be ok on the e30?

205/40 is the way to go then over the preferred 215/40's

On a 7.5J a 205 will sit nicely. No stretch at all
