Hi guys not been on for a while, but I have access to a very strong low mileage 330d engine from an e46 2001....

My e30 is a track car and I am considering the conversion? Im thinking it will give a fair performance increase over the 2.7m20 lump, im also guessing it will be pretty easily tuned.

Question is, Is it worth it? Will it be a lot quicker than it is at the min? (I guessing I have circa 190 bhp currently and a similar number in lb/ft of torque).

How hard is it to do? Has it been done before?

Thanks in advance for any input! :D

I Imagine it would be quite hard starting with fly by wire

For all the time money and hassle to do this conversion I'd be sticking an M52 in.

Tiny powerband and not many revs to play with in a track car?

Not when you can have 220ish hp from an m52 for around £2k to do properly that will be revvy and useable on track

The issue with the m57 is not the throttle or the wiring. The problem is to get a usable sump. You need one from a 730d which were not sold in the uk
M40 rightness if you can get to 6000rpm noone can hear your tappets

Hi mate. Any update on the 330d engine in the e30?

Did you get the sump sorted and did you have to change the fuel pipes or is that all the same?

up running currently with just a downpipe exhaust is getting made on sunday, use the m50 5mm or so too long then you have to cut and re weld it up also take some height out or the sump will sit far too low.
