Hello, bit of an odd one this, but I want to use e30 (or any 7mm stem valve bmw engine) spring caps in another application... a '54 VW with supercharger... The heads are a bit of a frankenstein, and I am now looking for a spring cap that I can machine a little to my purpose...

my big question is, when cap is holding the valve keepers onto the stem of the valve, is there one that makes the spring sit lower than the grooves on the valve???

My other 7mm option here in front of me (a bmc mini 7mm) sits level with the grooves, which will mean my springs are not strong enough etc.

I am hoping a bmw may sit the spring lower in the assembly, even if it is just by 1mm or so it will work!

please help, anyone who can measure one up for me. cheers

In short no,

the caps have a "recess" where the spring sits.... meaning the spring sits high up the stem of the valve,
at the same level as the collets,

if you know what i mean?
