e30s finally of the road! so time to get cracking for summer!
basically just curious if anyone's done this before? and if it's worth doing, polishing the Head, and inlet, only thing is don't want to remove the Head as its already had a new gasket cambelt etc about 2yrs ago...
was thinking to Obv remove injectors etc, and polishing above the injectors as opposed to just the openings? faster air flow to injectors? and continuing it as far it would go,
only thing is if the ports are uneven/ pitted or wavy could that in turn lead to negative effects?
its an m2025 high comp
thanks
porting/polishing inlet & Head?

but yeah so Head will come off! is it worth the hassle though? Engines running sweet, did a rebuild 2yrs back, sorted most of it, just got spare monies, and time to tinker with it now

Seriously, if your motor is running well then don't bother.
The m20 heads are reasonably well designed, and there is little that can be done to improve them (there are some things). To get any porting to work you need to look at other mods to compliment it. Doing any port or chamber work would be one of the last things on the list to be done on an m20.
When tuning an engine you need to look at the points that can be improved the easiest as a starting point. BBTB, light flywheel and a chip will see a few BHP and change the charcter of the engine. A cam and good manifold would be next, then a capacity hike. Thats is all before a ported head would be needed.
If you really want to go the whole hog on an engine, then buy a spare and swap it over when you have rebuilt it. That way there is no car off the road situation. Building performance motors is an expensive business to do right, so the best idea is work out a plan and stick to it.

Thirded. If you do actually manage to make a notable difference, it'll only make it worse to drive on the road.

ive actually got all those on the list, and was just looking into cams...
that was the final result two years back, so just looking to add to it really, its all stock atm bar a mild chip, dropped a few k's on it buying parts for pretty much everything, susp engine etc ran short on funds and time so had to make do!

essentials were all done though, so when the time came i could tinker about with it!
unfortunately 2 weeks back my exhaust dropped off when i was booting it so in the garage atm, everythings coming back out anyway for a respray,

been looking in to the Big bore TB, BTB manifolds, allready got a chip, and planning to get the flywheel skimmed as well,

Don't polish the exhaust on a road car. It will only cause the carbon to stick and build up faster. Not a problem for you though Rich with your 3k idle and duel (sic) ecu'srich318i wrote:never polish the inlet only port them and port and polish the out let only
