I'm after a new wing mirror for my Touring and was wondering if i could use a mirror from a 2dr or 4dr ?

Do they all fit each other ?

I'm guessing but i think the 2dr mirror might be differant/not fit ?

I think the base plate of E30 wing mirrors is aluminium, so with a bit of elbow grease you can them sanded down, and then just give them a coat of etch primer followed by top coat. You will need to keep the mirror housings masked as they are plastic. This type of work is messy, but is an option if you have hassle getting a mirror in matching colour.

yeah it was good fun thanks andy! just a bit of a downer to return home to 1- remember that i have 3 cars out of operation, all of which i'm supposed to fix this week! and 2- find snow everywhere (good for drifting, bad when you have to lie under cars)

turns out my engine mounts need only minor modification for the e34 engine, the left one will bolt straight on (there are extra tappings in the same place as the e28 block that are unused in an e34) and the right one will bolt on on 2 holes and just needs an extension and brace welding on to reach the 3rd hole

so should be driving by the end of the week!
