Hi chaps, Tim from Lincs, proud owner of a Chilli red e30 cabrio (will throw a pic or two up for you guys!)

Ever since buying my E30 I have noticed the rear silencer hangs low and to the right. Being a bit OCD and how much I love to detail my car this is really grinding on me. The car in question is a 1987 E30 325i with a scorpion system from the manifold flange, and an Mtech2 kit. I had the car up on the ramps and couldnt see any way to adjust it, and no loose hangers. It doesn't knock on anything when driving, just as the pic shows, is too far to one side to the point its rubbing on the Mtech valance. I noticed on some E30 systems that the tailpipes are angled out to the left hand side, however on my Scorpion exhaust theyre straight, parallel with the silencer. Were the angled pipes for prefacelift/facelift variants? Many thanks in advance guys! (excuse the poor quality exhaust pic, my phone camera lens is scratched rather badly!)

A lot of the after market ones are angled and also the left hand drive ones ,a true uk car with a genuine exhaust will have straight pipes ,on some cars they had a slight bend in the pipes from the rear box but would come out the rear panel straight

Good info thanks twins, I think what I'll do is take it to my local exhaust shop and get the tailpipes angled out

You can loosen the rear hangers and twist them around the box for a little bit of adjustment but they'll want to sit with the shape of the box so can be a bit tricky. Basically any little movements from anywhere can adjust it like where it connects at the downpipes or midbox.
Take it to somewhere where they know what they're doing and They can probably straighten it out.

AS above. Take everything apart and let someone who takes a bit of care fit it back on, and it'll sit perfectly.
