I have a 1990 touring.

the rear windows are manual and the fronts are electric, I have recently kindly been given rear motors (with the wire and where the window sits etc etc) which I believe bolt on quite obviously when you take the door cards off and I have two switches.

I have been told all the wiring should be in as its a late touring?

I can cut out of my front console the holes to fit the switches in the front, but do I also need new rear door cars? firstly to blank off where the window winder used to be? and surly to fit somewhere the switches in the rear door cards so they can operate it in the back?

cheers

You can get plastic inserts to cover up the hole inthe doorcards where the winder used to be, and when you remove the doorcard you'll see the punched hole where you cut for the window switches. It's not a hard job.

The wiring will be present on all tourings up to the sockets inside the 'B' pillars. The wiring looms from there into the doors seems to be present on about half of cars. I've found it to be entirely random, and not related to production date.
Note that you need all five switches fitted for both the back windows to work.

Sorry to seem stupid but I dont get want you mean by b pillars, and if the loom into the door isnt present how hard are they to get?
Also 5 switches? One in each door card and two in the front console? Whats the 5th?

The B pillars are the metal columns that the rear doors hinge on. In contrast, the A pillars hold up the roof at the windscreen, and the C pillars support the back end.

Looms can be sourced from any of the frag merchants on here - stick an advert in the Wanted section.

The fifth is the cut-out switch for the rear windows, whcih also lives in the centre console.

You probably haven't.

The fifth switch is not really a "cutout". It is a child safe thing so that you can stop the rear windows from operating.

Ben
Small square switch that fits at the front left of the rear console, mirroring the position of the rectangular cut out 'switch'.
