And gold centred BBS with a polished lip isn't?

RS's are a period wheel and in original finish are not bling bling like the reps you can buy or OEM BBS with a polished lip and gold centres!

yeah too much money for me

rs are a nice wheel but much more suited to a tech 2 than a tech 1 for sure, just not for me and a bit to euro looking

to be fair mine were done for my old black IS, and are not a blingy gold more a dull gold finish, have no idea if theyl even suit the car/silver paint or il like them on it, wel see

RS's suit pretty much any E30, they are a timeless classic which to be fair, can be built up/finished overdone or to bling but in original finish, they work with everything.

Another thing i just remembered!

As mentioned i have removed and sold the Alpina spoilers and returned my car back to tech 2 spoilers.
Now i did keep my original boot spoiler as they aren't really worth much and it was in good condition so up in the loft it went. What i didn't keep was the lower front M tech 2 valence as one of the side mountings that the studs slide into had broken off which can happen when you clout the valence on a speed bump or high kerb along with popping the top white clips.

This left me with the problem of sourcing one and nearly all the used ones are overpriced junk with the same broken side mounts and cracks.

So, that left me with buying new.

Now i checked availability of the part back in Jan this year and they were showing 1 in stock in Germany. At that time i had to spend some money on the M3 so the valence had to wait which was a gamble.

Fast forward 3 months and when i went to buy it they were showing none in Germany!

Someone had bought it!

Now this meant the part was either going to go NLA, or if i was lucky another batch made but at a higher price and with a wait for god knows how long!

By a stroke of luck after some searching and emails, one was found in the UK!!!! :D

Harwoods bodyshop in Basingstoke had one in stock so BMW GB did a buy back then sent it out to my dealer. WIN!!!! :D

So essentially i got the last one in the UK, Germany and possibly.... The world! (in a Clarkson voice)

When it arrived and i opened up the box i was pleasantly surprised!

Image

It only came with the NLA m tech specific brake ducts, drilling jig and all clips and fittings!

Result!

very nice and when painted up it will be too good for being a snow plough/fly killer/stone chip receiver

oh and don't go near any high kerbs or I fear there will be tears !!!!!

Its been on since aug jim. They are much less susceptible to damage than the Alpina spoiler that was on it before.

The IS is still tucked away in the garage, just been trying to get some money behind me and then the work shall begin! Don't want to get half way through it then run out of funds, but im planning to start in the new year. Going to replace a few panels then go on the hunt for rust. Iv bought a few bits along the way, got all new trim for the exterior and picked up some RS's quite some time ago.

Why thank you! :)

That's serious commitment by the way! 4am! 8O

There are a few more bits and bobs waiting to go on but a serious lack of time is preventing this. I haven't seen the car in nearly 6 weeks! :(

Having sold my staggered Alpina's early last year, i started the hunt for a set of wheels i have always wanted and they a genuine BBS RS! I ended up spotting a set of four BBS RS001 in original unrefurbished condition on ebay.de.
Thankfully the seller was willing to ship so no need for another road trip to the father land like the case of the interior! :)

Image

After checking they were straight, i managed to serve the tyres for £50 on ebay which i was going to bin anyway. :)

I did some research and found the RS001 are 15x7 ET25, the same as standard BMW E30 15" BBS and these would work with making them a bit wider and staggered.

The lip size on the 001's is 1" and i wanted to go from 7" wide to 7.5" front and 8" rear so.......

Strip down,

Original BBS bolts,

Another result on Ebay was serving the four 1" lips on ebay for £168 so combined with the sale of the tyres, knocked £218 off the initial purchase price.

I wanted to go for as close to original BBS finish as possible so that meant a silver centres, chrome bolts etc. I was advised to use the original bolts because apparently the new ones are not as good metal as the original ones and also important to me, new ones dont have BBS stamped into them.

I got the bolts rechromed and the nuts zinc plated by these people,

http://www.collinschemicalblacking.co.uk/

Image

I had the centres powder coated by Lepsons in BMW flat silver and the barrels in off white as per new barrels.

http://www.lepsons.com/

And i bought some 1.5" and 2" Lips from this ebay seller,

Some pics of a trial fit of a front and rear.

I got some new black and silver BBS badges but still need to do something about the locking nuts. The originals have some marks on them and they should polish up ok but i'm not sure if i want to stick with full height ones or half height.

Quite chuffed with how they have turned out!

Shame about the tyre situation! GRRRRRRRRR!
