Evening folks,

Right, looks like I'm going to need to change the clutch on my sport, & I would like to do it myself as the garages round here are asking stupid money just to fit a new one.

Thing is I've never done one before & I was wondering if there is a guide anywhere (with plenty of photo's) on how to do it?

Also how hard is it to get the flywheel out/off? Might as well get that skimmed (what the best best/safest weight to aim for?) While 'm there.

Looking at doing it in the next month or so when it gets a bit dryer.

Any help would be fantastic.

T.I.A, steve.

The guide is exactly where you'd expect it...

although I don't know about taking the flywheel off. Might be going overboard, unless you're taking the whole engine out.

Cheers for that rich :D

Thought it might be possible to remove the flywheel while I was there, do I have to take the engine out to do that??

Easy enough to remove the flywheel when the gearbox is off. A 22mm socket on the crank nose pulley with a long bar resting on the chassis rail will stop the crank turning.

Remove the two larger bolts each side of the bell housing, and replace them with two long bolts with their heads cut off. When the rest of the bolts are removed (including the forward facing hex. bolt on the exhaust side) slide the gearbox back away from the engine along the headless bolts, keeping the engine backplate and the bell housing parallel all the time.
Use the bolts again to refit the gearbox. Lines everything up, and avoids potential damage to the gearbox input shaft, spigot bearing, etc.

Once again thanks Brian, just got to wait & hope that when I get a week off next month it stays dry long enough for me to get this done.
