Did you get to the bottom of why it did that?MDT wrote:Thank you for the nice comments, will get some interior pics up soon once I finish repairing her, currently sat on a 4 poster ramp with half back underneath stripped off as car decided to lock up on me at 30mph,

Alright mate, yeah my rear handbrake shoes pin had come out the back plate it locks into and jammed my handbrake on which then caused my diff to brake aswell, typical, all sorted now thoSpeedtouch wrote:Did you get to the bottom of why it did that?MDT wrote:Thank you for the nice comments, will get some interior pics up soon once I finish repairing her, currently sat on a 4 poster ramp with half back underneath stripped off as car decided to lock up on me at 30mph,
I took mine to a normal mot station just on a whim and they passed it so was a bonus as I didnt know if it would or not, if it did I was contemplating putting some into my wing mirrors so would pass, will see if they pick up on it this year hahapukar wrote:quick question, does removing side repeaters cause a problem with mot?
Yeah I didnt think it was a bad price, some place in essex did it,steve_k wrote:Not a bad price for a retrim bud,
Sorry I thought you were his brother lol, I'm on his fb,
Stick with the white it's the best colour for a tech 2 (& it makes them faster).
N its ok mate, few of my mates have even asked me if he was my brother,
And I do like the white but sometimes think would be nice for a change but then I look at her and think no lol its a hard decision, won't rush into doing it tho so will stay white for a good time yet

Gorgeous car mate!
I'd keep it white looks too good to change + the borbets are a perfect contrast!

Yeah its a really crap design for a german car using back plate to hold it all in, I've redone mine with peugeot parts how they hold theres in, with the pin & spring on inside and on outer side behind back plate using washer to lock it together, been fine ever sinceSpeedtouch wrote:I had a similar problem with the handbrake shoe pins on my 1989 Sport.MDT wrote: Alright mate, yeah my rear handbrake shoes pin had come out the back plate it locks into and jammed my handbrake on which then caused my diff to brake aswell, typical, all sorted now tho
Cheers mate, just get bored every now and then and start thinking its time for a change, but other days I think I must be crazy for wanting to change itCypriotgeeza wrote:Gorgeous car mate!

Perhaps you could provide details/pics - may well be of interest to other Zoners...MDT wrote: Yeah its a really crap design for a german car using back plate to hold it all in, I've redone mine with peugeot parts how they hold theres in, with the pin & spring on inside and on outer side behind back plate using washer to lock it together, been fine ever since

Yeah it is strange place to be mounted but my backbox is massive and this seems to be the main bracket thst holds it up so dont scrape and also only one that stops it wobbling about and hitting my spare wheel welljmc330i wrote:Never seen an exhaust mounted there before![]()
Can't say I'm surprised it broke off
Nice looking car though, especially in white
Didnt get any while I was doing it as didnt realise what had gone wrong till took it apart and luckily my inlaw had done a rear axle change on peugeot van before hand so robbed bjts off that so mine could get back on the road as its my daily and needed it for work, I've currently took it off road till nicer weathers comes so will strip it down to check all still ok and get few pics then for everyone to see,Speedtouch wrote:Perhaps you could provide details/pics - may well be of interest to other Zoners...MDT wrote: Yeah its a really crap design for a german car using back plate to hold it all in, I've redone mine with peugeot parts how they hold theres in, with the pin & spring on inside and on outer side behind back plate using washer to lock it together, been fine ever since
Not a standard backbox?MDT wrote:Yeah it is strange place to be mounted but my backbox is massive and this seems to be the main bracket thst holds it up so dont scrape and also only one that stops it wobbling about and hitting my spare wheel welljmc330i wrote:Never seen an exhaust mounted there before![]()

There's two mounting points above the backbox. There should be two straps around the backbox which hold it firm but allow some movement...
I can see that mount snapping off again as the exhaust vibrates and twists with the engine movement.
I really do like white tech2s, it looks really clean and good without the boot spoiler

Yeah I love tech2 kit but never been a fan of the spoiler plus with everythin being smoothed off it wouldnt look right on the car,
And my backbox is a scorpion dtm but its biggest ive seen, I have the 2 other hanger mounts but it rocks about far to much just on those, I'm wanting to swap it for a twin straight backbox as think would make it look cleaner and smoother to match the rest of the car

Keep it white and spoiler-less. Agree with going for straight tailpipes over the DTM pipes.
Does the exhaust have the other mounts fitted? There should be one mount off the gearbox, one off the rear beam and the two straps on the backbox. Mine doesn't rock at all with those mounts fitted, just a little movement - I had twin 3" angled tailpipes on my tech2 and it didn't move enough to hit the valance.
