Could anybody tell me what injector with airflow is all about and where should the multi-connection (No.2 in the link below) attach to?

The engine is currently on my shed floor, but I have a hose from the multi-connection that ends just above the alternator.

Is the airflow function needed or can I just leave it disconnected or use some M42/M30 injectors?

hi James,
the pipe connects to an elbow on the main air intake pipe after the maf,the air flows down past the injectors and improves atomisation.
I have this on my M44 touring which has been on the road now for 5 months and is a worthwhile upgrade over the M40.it pulls well and I average 36 mpg on my daily commute and would recommend it to anyone not going down the six pot route.
if you remember on a previous post I had an issue with the temp gauge which I overcame by leaving the dual sensor in the head for the dme and bought a LMA hose adaptor kit from demon tweeks for about £20.i put it in the top hose with the M40 temp sensor and it works a treat.being the wrong side of the stat means it takes longer to register but once the stat opens it sits just below half way as it did on the M40.

Ah the inlet elbow... the one thing I didn't look at  Thanks for that, been driving me mad trying to find where it went lol

Yup, already got a hose adaptor for the temp gauge sender to go in.
Glad to hear the conversion is worth it, I just needed something with more poke than the M40, but less fuel usage than my 325i :D
Just trying to sort through the wiring at the moment. I'm keeping the complete M44 setup rather than swapping the M42 loom etc.

No problem mate,I sure you will be happy with it over the M40.
i used the E36 M44 loom and air intake,my touring doesnt have ABS so there is room for the 318ti airbox (just)
let me know if there is anything else I can help with. :D
