Hi guys starting a little Project thread on my 318 Coupe

I don't know much about the history of the car but I bought it for it's condition and price.

All I know is it has a 1.8 IS Engine that was rebuild around 90k miles and is on around 130k now not far off the miles on the chassis.

It has a lightened flywheel individual coil packs chipped ecu straight through exhaust into a DTM style back box and lowered on some unknown suspension.

The car was stripped out inside for drifting by previous owner my friend got it as part of a swap for his E46 then sold onto me.

Just now the car has no roof lining various switch's missing no handbrake center console and a bare boot.

My plans are to restore the interior and luck have it a black head lining and sunroof was included in the sale that apparently is pretty sought after.
This should be getting fitted in a couple weeks properly by a retro bmw breaker in Glasgow who will include the sound deadening roof grab handles and various other missing things on the roof I don't know about for £100,
Will have a new set of window/sunroof seals from BMW for front rear and sides as these will be coming out when the roof lining is being fitted so taking this opportunity.

I am currently looking for boot lining at a reasonable price, I understand E30's are getting rarer and prices are on the increase but I plan to rebuild this as cheaply as possible and still get the best condition I can,
Fortunately I drift (at driftland ) an E36 and have a few friends who Drift E30's who normally throw all that stuff in the bin so I shall be waiting for these moments to get my stuff.

Sometime in Feb/March I am getting a flocked dash on an exchange basis for my standard dash for £90 while its off going to properly wire in an alarm system as the key feels like It's going to snap every time I use it so want remote locking and I have a Toad Ai606 sitting there doing nothing that I will fit. Considering getting the gear console and handbrake console flocked as well so it all goes but that's still undecided.

Once I am happy with the look and inside of the car I plan to fit a M52 2.8 Engine as the conversion looks straight forward and I really enjoy that reliability of the engine and note it gives, Its the engine in my drift car and every month for the last year it has been bounced off the limiter and never giving me problems 7 months of that year I drove the car there and back wasn't until the MOT was out I stopped and stored it there

Exterior wise the red GTi strip is getting painted over and will be looking at a Mtech kit unsure of what one yet will need to see whats available and condition.

Anyway here is my base for the project!

Well I am pretty happy today, Went to Chizfab to have the car looked over to see if it's a good shell or a rotter!

And safe to say the structure of the car is in good condition :D couple silly niggles such as fuel line but other than that, Rot free :)

So plans are full steam ahead now!!

Picked up full boot trim, parcel shelf, handbrake console and a couple switch's today.

Also got some Leather door cards but I am considering just selling these on as my IS seats are in very good condition and don't want to mix match seats/door cards cloth/leather

Pictures tomorrow, I'll show inside the car as well to see ware I am at

Little update nothing amazing but It is a restore thread sort off.

Had the boot interior in the house since the last update, stuck on the yellow washing up gloves and with soap powder washed down the trim in the bath with the shower head to clean it up and left outside to dry for a few days, Turned out really nice all dirty marks removed and mold smell gone replaced with tropical blast haha!

Poor pictures as usual due to lack of light and starting to rain as soon as I emptied the boot off all the junk!

I'll try make the next update more interesting ;)

Finally due an update I think :)

Yesterday at the scrap yard I managed to pick up a lot of parts needed that I was missing.

Got myself
Rear headlight covers and oem cold air feed
trim above foot pedals with all fixings in tact with no damage!
Chrome shadow lines that I have sanded back and sprayed
Console blanking tabs
non sticky hazard switch
viscous fan shroud and blades, viscous it's self had too little resistance.
power steering brackets to hold all items coming from Magpie :)
uncut speaker less parcel shelf

So today has been pretty productive for the car

I started by fitting a spare pair of grills I got and sprayed matt black to rid of the Golf GTi look once fitted I realized how poorly the kidney grills were so these were removed and sprayed, Also fitted some tinted indicator lenses.

Sanded back and sprayed chrome trim for the shadow line look why people pay silly money for these and not just paint the much cheaper chrome I don't know.

Replaced cut up parcel shelf with nice new uncut speaker less shelf.

Found out that the oil sensor and temp gauge sensor were mixed around so i had a bright oil light and constant cold temperature gauge these were corrected and all working as should.

Correctly placed window switches back into center console as they were mounted next to the hazard and screen demister.

Fitted new hand brake gator and gearstick surround as mine was missing completely

Pics from the day
