I have a 1991 318Lux, it's on lowering springs at the minute but I am looking too upgrade too coil overs.. I heard my front struts are 45mm but a seen someone say the 45mm struts were only on the ealier models.. Is this true ??

Strut size depends on both engine size and body style. If your car is a Touring or Cabriolet, it will have the 51mm struts regardless of engine size. If yours is a saloon, then it will have the 45mm struts.

If you are getting new struts with the coilovers it doesn't matter as to the size. If you are going to chop and weld then you would have to take this into account.
