Rolling arches?
I need to roll the rear arches, Arch enemy will do for about 160 quid or you can buy this for 80 odd quid and do it yourself.

Sounds like you're molesting a pretty rare car in order to fit the the wrong fitment of wheel. Why? Your car already stands out being a Hartge!1001000010 wrote:Rolling arches?

As others have said, you don't NEED to roll the arches at all. If your wheels won't fit those arches, they're shit rims which will have a corresponding detrimental effect on the ride.
You also have the issue that the rear arches are double skinned almost all the way round, so anything more than tweaking the lip a few mm could lead to serious distortion of the rear panels. If the car means that much to you, it's really not worth doing.

Do you know what you are right? I know it, however in the absence of the correct wheels, if i can fit these until a set comes my way and not really change anything on the car that would be ok by me.suedenim wrote:Sounds like you're molesting a pretty rare car in order to fit the the wrong fitment of wheel. Maybe i can reduce the offset on the rears and get way with not rolling the rear lip.
I know that 8.5jx17 ET 46 with a 25mm spacer/adapter with a 215 will need the arch rolling.
Also that 8.5jx17 ET 46 with a 20mm spacer/adapter and rolled rear arch - you can fit a 235 on that rim (rear only).
What about 8.5jx17 ET 46 with a 20mm spacer/adapter with a 215, that should fit without rolling the rear arch.
Any E30 Offset guru's. I would prefer not to roll the arch if possible......

I know i know - you're right, just want those rims on there so bad starting to delude myself that i can find a way to do it right with the wrong wheels lmao.Grrrmachine wrote:As others have said, you don't NEED to roll the arches at all. Presuming you're fitting the 17" 5 studs. Do you know what the thickness of the adaptors will be? 5x120 to 4x100 is hard to do as the bolt holes clash. in my limited experience I've yet to see a satisfactory or elegant solution to this problem, of the ones I've seen the adaptor comes up really thick, which is why I suggested a 5 stud conversion in your wheel thread.
If it was me, I would ditch the idea of fitting those wheels and save your money for something that fits.

The 4 door (h26) I am fixing it and not sure i agree with the statement "ruining it" just wanted to roll the lip on the rear but i think i can do it without rolling it now, just leaves less margin for error.pacerpete wrote:1001000010 wrote:What you on about!!! it's a 2 door, get your facts right.......pacerpete wrote:Luckily it is ONLY a four door morsel donor

What you guys confused about i have a set of wheels that don't fit - that i am determined to make fit, if i can do with out messing with the car. After exploring many options, i settled on possibly rolling the rear arch. In hindsight i agree its not a good idea.pacerpete wrote:suedenim wrote:I'm confused1001000010 wrote: The 4 door (h26) I am fixing it and not sure i agree with the statement "ruining it" just wanted to roll the lip on the rear but i think i can do it without rolling it now, just leaves less margin for error.

Original setup for the wrong wheels was going to be 25mm pcd adapters all round and a rear arch roll. Now i think i can go in 5 mill in and still clear it on the rear with a 20mm adapter without roll. Car is dropped 35mm with Hartge lowering kit.
I have to do it if only to see it, i saw them on a normal E30 and could not get it out of my head. Eventually i will get the right ones and i can take these off. This car is not a daily driver its just some nostalgia for me.
Cheers

Post up a set of 20mm adaptors. The car you saw more than likely had a 5 stud conversion.

We are confused because you have two cars mentioned in the one thread and we are not sure which one you are attempting to fit stupid wheels to

Just one thing... How much engagement do those small kidney shaped plates have with the bolts/adaptor/bolts? Fook all, that's how much. I wouldn't trust putting enough torque to power a car through them.
Also, $200 per pair + import duty + rolling the arches + the wring wheels, you might as well have bought some that fit. Not mentioning all the extra unsprung weight and low profile tyres and drop, the car is going to handle and ride like shit. Fact!
Like I said, not seen a good solution using adaptors.

That's the essence of the thing. When it's a VW it doesn't matter, but on an E30 it will make the car almost undriveable in comparison to a decent fitment 15" or 16" wheel.suedenim wrote:the car is going to handle and ride like shit. Fact!

Yeah I do know that deep down. I don't have any issue with spacers and adapters, i know plenty of boys who run em on track cars. I know the geometry will get fucked up a little but that's fixable, unsprung weight is not. At least 12-15 lbs not including the tyres.suedenim wrote:Well done! I suppose the sensible thing to do would be to dig out the 16 inch single piece Hartge wheels i have somewhere, get them reconditioned and see how they look, i suppose anything is better than the current BBS reps - which i hate.
