Removed some god awful aftermarket rear lights, which have chopped the wiring connector off and bulb holders wired in place of the round 6 pin connector I am now attempting to put back on, I've hit a problem that the wiring coming out of my car, a 320 91 e30, is different in colour to the wiring on the round connector. So I'm stuck at the moment with what wires to what, any ideas anyone?

Some of the colours are different whether or not the car has a bulb check module, and there are pre/post facelift differences.

Grey/white and grey/green are RH tail light.
Grey/yellow and grey/blue are LH tail light.
Grey/red, grey and grey/black are number plate lights.
Green/red, green/yellow and green/blue are brake lights.

What's gotten me confused is the wiring coming out of my car is different to the wiring I've got attached to the round connector, like somebody's chopped the connector off to connect some bulb holders, and I'm assumed it would be a case of just rejoining the matching colors, ie brown to brown, green to green ect. But they don't match?

Car has check light so I assume those connectors are from a car without?

Connector colors are...

Brown
Green/red
Blue/white
Black/blue
Grey/white
Grey/lilac

I've only listed the ones that might be different. Brown (earth) and blue/white (reverse), etc. should be the same on both looms.
Match the colours on your connectors to the others I have grouped with them.
The green/reds on your connectors should be connected to a green/yellow and a green/blue on your loom for instance.

I've had another crack at this this morning and managed to figure my way through it, just switched the light on I wanted to wire and connected it to the wire which illuminated the correct bulb. Thanks for the help though!
