can't believe you went full rear quarters and didn't go pre-face rear panel to keep it sweet this would look so much better with early lights,

I have seen many S50 conversions and indeed executed them myself too, but have never seen no'6 modded in this way. Most atempt to follow the shape of the other five giving a 'professional' factory look once installed and attempting to retain the equal length primaries, this is possible without being wrapped around the steering linkage in that manner, AKA Fritz Bitz, BTB or a good exhaust shop that takes pride in their work. The picture of your no'6 does nothing but scream Bodge Job! and i think undermines the other good work and effort put into your project, those that post positive comments regarding that picture really do not know what they are talking about, and i would be wary of taking advice from people who rave positively about something so poorly executed. I am in no way slagging your project, just pointing out something that IMO will let it down (others will think similar but not say anything), by the way good luck in finnishing it.

well length seems to be bang on ajay...and the route its taken has been kept similar to how it travelled down before modding! Im not too worried about how it looks moreso the purpose and the factors which affect performance. I was advised it is best to keep it as close to factory as possible. We'll see how it goes if not then out it comes....what d'you reckon?

Sure i understand its done now, and that you will give it a go, yes it does go from a to b but in the worst possible fashion. Most people atempt to avoid the steering linkage with all 6 primarys on the same side, if an exhaust shop was doing that they would soon go out of business. I personally could not live with that, but if your not bothered fair play to you. You may want to think about wrapping it to reduce the possible heat transfer in that area. GL

Does the No.6 primary clear the inner chassis rail like that?
I modded my first S50 manifold in this way (almost the same tbh), but I wasn't happy with the clearance to the chassis rail. Do you have any pics of how No.6 enters the collector?

another shot of the manifold

its sat perfectly in the bay...im well happy with the way it works down past the box and anti-roll bar. Have to wait now for some figures to back up the work.

Thanks for your comments mate.....Engine (3.2) wasn't cheap...but did get some extras with it which I needed for the conversion including CWP 3.25, e30 m3 prop, e34 sump and a few other bits and bobs. Its a 33k engine with m3 5spd box.
Jobs on hold at the moment, can't get the exhaust completed as the car can't be rolled onto the 4 poster, completed the 5 stud conversion and lo & behold the front wishbones are standard m3 not evo so the tyres were munching the wheel well. I can't find a set second hand anywhere!!!

I hope so Imy. One thing after the other really. I assumed when buying my 5 stud conversion that it was the correct 5 stud conversion(advertised as 5 stud conv)....obviously not but I should've checked. Should be back on schedule tomorrow. I'm hoping I'm a couple of weeks away from an M.O.T.ImysE30 wrote:Ready for next summer?

cheers....I've been very fortunate with sourcing the parts for my project and the prices I've had to pay. The panels cost me less than 1k and that's including brand new quarters. What hurt the most was a set of new evo wishbones which I had to pay full whack for from the stealers. If it had cost me 13k+, which is what a battered m3 cab would cost, I still wouldn't be bothered as my intentions weren't to have an original e30 m3, it was more so to build one to my spec. Plus it's been a fantastic project for my young lads to experience from drawing board to finish. Ill let them enjoy the 10k+ I've saved from not buying an original one. I love e30s but I don't worship them....sack what the logbook says....what's important is the valuation on my insurance policytonybtonyb wrote:Well done looks sweet.but was it cheaper than buying a real M3.
