Getting a touch worse now, so quite often now, if I'm driving and stop out of gear, the revs will only drop to 1200/1500 rpm.
Sometimes happens when I'm slowing down in gear too, so speed doesn't reduce quite as quickly and it becomes a bit jerky at times when the revs get low.
Can normally be solved (at idle) with a quick jab of the throttle, then it settles/idles as it should.
It does, however, occasionally rev from idle to 1200/1500 ish on it's own too!!!

I've got a couple of inlet hoses to replace anyway, as there are some hairline cracks on them, but nothing major and all else appears ok.

I'm sure I tested the TPS with a meter and it was ok, but I'll have another go at that and check the ICV.

If I remove the throttle body to clean it out, etc, is there a gasket I'll need to replace before re-fitting the TB???

Not convinced this will cure it tbh, as it seems to me like the TB spring is maybe not quite strong enough anymore, but hopefully I'm wrong!!!

Any other suggestions???

Just waiting for a dry enough day!!!

Edit: Car is my 327 touring!!!

You need to isolate the problem. Is the throttle sticking or do you have air leaks? A few hairline cracks is often enough to cause running issues. Take the TB off to make sure it is not sticking, and is coming to rest on its stop (which should be set correctly).

The cable is another culprit to check. Is it smooth in operation.

No doubt there is more than one issue at work here, it is just a case of working through them.

Did have the throttle cable replaced a few years back and it seems fine to my amateur eye!!!

Really just want to confirm - if I take the Throttle Body off, is there a gasket there that I should replace???

Once I know that, I won't be worried about taking it apart, as I'll need to stick it straight back together and use the car the same day!!!

As you say, I'll have to play about, replace those hoses and see what's what!!!

Yes, there's a gasket that you should replace, but if it doesn't tear or stick and you put it back in exactly the same place between the same two faces, then it should be OK to reuse.
