And in response to speed touch, Alpina never used a BBTB or six branch on the C2.5/Sport pack engine.
I stand corrected. :o:

However, they did apparently fit 'free flow' downpipes and exhaust system, which I guess amounts to achieving the same thing...

The exhaust system was a bigger bore at 50mm but bolted up to a standard log manifold, not the same a a six branch with equal primaries.

Tsk, Alpina cheapskates.

Still, if they managed to get 190bhp, the package obviously worked pretty well. 8)

Would the Alpina/Hartge 6branch fit a MZ3 or E46 rack conversion?

Also which rack is best upgrade and any difference between the upgrades?

Thanks for everyone who replied with suggestions.

My New Years plans are as follows currently:

- Cams (any suggestions)
- BBTB
- Chip
- Manifold once I find one in budget

I will have a Rolling Road done and post the results a˜Š

Neither manifold will clear a non E30 rack.

Both a very rare, the Alpina one more so!

There is only one cam in an M20, a schrick 272 is a good shout on a relatively standard engine.

Kedge has a BTB3 system to fit round his E46 rack, check his build thread some info on how he tried to get round it too with a BTB2 system he had but since scrapped the idea.

http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... &start=225

Some good reading in there for M20 building, but if you are looking to do this with a "budget" or if there is cash flow restraints don't even bother.

M52 is the main reason M20 builds don't happen too often I believe, unless you just like the idea of building/keeping a car M20.

EDIT: In addition you are now at the crossroads of pursuing power/gains, keeping the car original or molesting a little so you can't really tell but really you've molested it :)

That is why I always say Povvo spec car with conversion FTW, forget 'Sports' if you have to mess with things
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Totally at the crossroads, do I mess with it or let it be.

I am thinking the following mods to be reversible
- Cam
- BBTB
- 6 Branch
- Chip

Or would you say makes no difference as once its done its been molested regardless

If you are doing a bbtb make sure you match the manifold mouth the the tb or you will only see a tiny gain when on full throttle from stand still due to bad air flow from hitting a lip, which will slow you down too in many situations.

I should've known you were lurking in the land of 2 or 5 doors. Next time I'll make sure I fully disclose that information at the outset.

RHD ones are very rare as most have rusted to f uck as they were mild steel not stainless.

I asked for a pic of topblags as in the past people have thought they had a RHD Alpina six branch when in reality they didnt. Quite often a copy or a magnex.

As for value, that would depend on condition.

Has it still got the down pipe flanges as they are usually the first things to fall off?

If its a genuine C2 2.7 engine then i would be keeping the manifold with it.

My dad broke it roughly 10-15 years ago it was a Delphin or lachs saloon sold the full conversion package consisting of slip diff engine box exhaust and ecu his friend built the car up then for some reason left it to rot in the field with his m3 recently another friend of my dads bought the car which was just a red 2dr and stripped it to put the alpina bits in his cabriolet which he hasn't done yet hence me being able to copy the manifold
