Hi all can someone help me out on the best turbo to use for my m50b25 project I'm after getting around the 500hp mark. My friend is making me a manifold and I need to know what turbo and flange it is so he can start.
Thanks
Thanks

Twin scroll or not?
Holset HX40's are used a lot, very cheap for what you get.

Honestly I don't know what's the differance between twin scroll and non twin scroll. Just after finding out what's best for what I want but nothing stupidly expensive.
Thanks
Thanks

That has an internal waste gate. You will want one with an external.
Ask your friend if the manifold will be twin scroll or not.

Ok thanks for that. I can have the manifold made to fit whatever turbo I'm going to use. He just asked what's best to use for this application then he can make the manifold to fit it.ross_jsy wrote:That has an internal waste gate. You will want one with an external.

you really dont need some thing as big as a gt42 a gt35 will be good or a holset hx35 but most holsets are like ross said internal wastegate other thing with a garrett is there bloody expensive or look for something on the size of a borg warner k27-7 with a inducer of 57mm on the compressor side and a exducer of 65mm on the turbine side will see you good for 500 bhp

its not cheap , i got a twin scroll hx35 for £450 new , there was a lad selling them on driftworks too recently . if you get a twin scroll turbo your best to get the twinscroll manifold made up too as the divider bit on the turbo will get hot and apparently can crack.
I have no idea about that turbo not sure what a hy is maybe he means a HX ? but you cant eve nsee the exhaust side the info on it is crap and as said its not cheap it wants to be half that price i would say and i would want to check it for play buying second hand.

you could weld up an internal waste gate and have an external made into the manifold .
There are these on ebay !! but a hx40 is bloody big , and im not sure how much i would trust a recon unit etc but suppose it does have warranty ..just if you trust ebay too ..
Gunni knows his stuff well worth asking i know he give me some advice before seems a good chap

Hi not yet I've currently bought an engine, gearbox, rear axle for disc brakes, arp head and rod bolts, racing shells, m3 front hubs and suspension and some other bits so I'm out of money at the minutepolred wrote:Did you source a turbo yet?
