So my best mate has just moved houses and he spied an old 7 series in the underground car park. Knowing I like old scrap he went to take a picture and the owner turned up and started talking to him.

Seems the guy is a real old money sort, has owned the car since new and it's only got 20k miles on it as he spends most of his time in the Bahama's, alright for some.

So my friend mentioned me liking old turds and he said he was thinking of giving it away soon if I'm interested.

It's an e32, white and my mate said the badge either said 740i or 750i but he can't remember. Any value in these? Especially with such low mileage and a full main dealer service history. If I got it I wouldn't be looking to sell as I think it's an awesome old bus and it's a bit rude shifting on something you get for free imo. Just curious

They're not worth alot, even in mint condition (as with most older luxury cars, as most folk are afraid of the potential repair bills!), but a very nice barge to have for free, I imagine! 8)

A few years ago they could be picked up for pennies, and as such most of them have been scrapped. Not that I pay a lot of attention to them, but they are definatly on the rise. if it is as nice as it sounds it would be an incredibly cool (if thirsty) turd to smoke around in.

Free cars are a no brainer really aren't they. Graciously accept, innit :D

There have been a few for sale recently with lowish mileage for £4-6k.

750's and 735's.

Even as a 730iSE Auto , it's worth very decent coin with 20'000 miles - about 3-4k. Non SE 735i cars also had those wheels but the V8's didn't.

Not bad going for free. Will keep everyone updated and when I'm round I'll snap some pictures. Chap explained he is away a lot so might be a while before I have more news.

I think they are properly cool, discreet chariots. Will look nice next to my white sport!

I scrapped an 87 735i last year, was a lovely old lurcher to barge around in. Felt like driving a 2:1 scale e30 around on a 30 year old mattress. Had a decent turn of pace too with the old m30 barking away. It did however use an EPIC amount of fuel, then it's auto box went Pete Tong and the weirdo braking system was terrifying in its old age, so to the bridge it went :(

Didn't you remove the venerable M30B35 first? :?

I took one out of my brother's E34 535iSE, because it had to be scrapped - it sold for around £100 IIRC. My brother also sold the desirable manual gearbox, for a giveaway tenner or so - he forgot to watch the E-bay ad!

Unfortunately I didn't :( I did have every intention of putting it in the e30 at the time, but my abundance of sheds was getting out of control, something had to go and quickly!

His last journey was hell of a spectacle though, the looks on the faces of all the cholesterol fanatics at the butty van as they witnessed the old tank wildly lurching down the industrial estate at almost 90° to the road. Fish tailing from lock to lock as though I was filming for the German edition of the Sweeney!
