Just purchased what to be an original E30 325i convertible with MTECH II kit suspension, steering and body kit. It also has an LSD.
These parts are all on the spec list when out of the dealer (was supplied in the service history) apart from the body kit.
There is no mention of the body kit in the spec list but all the clips etc on the skirts are stuck to the body and look original? And seem to be sitting correctly. They dont look to be fibre glass niether but i dont know how you would tell the difference.
Is there anyway of telling it come out the factory with the kit?

you could of spec'd a normal cab with the M-Tech kit. It will be on the Spec list from BMW, If you can put up the last 7 digits of the VIN, we can see what it left the factory with.

Well it looks like an original kit has been put on at some point...
Just hope its original!
Maybe I should ask for some compensation from the seller
The car is mint though...

Not sure it really makes a difference if it came from factory with the kit unless it was a motorsport. It Seems decent spec and the seller adding the kit makes sense as it seems to have come with the other bits.

I see your point, but if the seller was selling it as a M-Tech cab, then that is not right....

It was listed as a motorsport and i took off one of the side skirts and it seems to have all the original bits/clips that would hold them up...?
Nothing is sagging either and no rust under the pods etc but plenty of dirt meaning it has been on for a while

Agreed not right if he said it was a factory M Tech cab, considering if it they listed it as M Tech spec'd/replica cab that would have been correct.kam-325i wrote:I see your point, but if the seller was selling it as a M-Tech cab, then that is not right....
As for Motorsport totally wrong colour for that

Unless you paid serious cash (Motorsport money) for the car, it sounds like not worth complaining as you got a good spec and your saying rust free, seems a good buy. So consider if you paid over the top for a 325 cab, then complain. (Not saying seller was right in their advertising)hellrotcompact wrote:It was listed as a motorsport and i took off one of the side skirts and it seems to have all the original bits/clips that would hold them up...?

I reckon about £4k is a good price for the spec you have. anything over £5k is over the top.hellrotcompact wrote:What would be over the odds....

Thats sounds about right to me...
But Still I was after an original MTECH II
The MTECH's colours arent the greatest to be fair...but didnt know they only came is these colours.
Alot to learn about these cars and I swore to myself this would be my last E30 as this is my fourth! Lol

I think all that the OP is looking for is to find out if the body kit was factory fitted or added by someone else......If it was sold as "Factory Fitted", then that was a lie...

Funny I got this car from Brumpukar wrote:The only cab I knew of that came with tech ii kits were late motorsport cabs. There is no such thing as a genuine mtech cab..... (except perhaps in Birmingham) so as it is nota specific model I don't see how he could be held to account. If you got a good deal ( 4k or less???) Then all is well.

Quite often, M technic body kits were dealer fitted when the cars were new.

If its plastic it will be genuine.
If you look on the front valence part of the kit by the wheel arch it will have the BMW part number moulded into it.

No, M tech will not be stated on the V5 logbook.
Not even 325i Motorsports had "M tech" on the log book.

If there is no evidence of the kit being any colour other than Laguna green then i would say there is a high chance of it being dealer fitted or at the very least, an new kit fitted to the car and not a second hand one from another car.hellrotcompact wrote:Thanks for you help guys...
