No . Way too tall. 3.25 or 3.46 would be ideal.

With a six speed box, you need E30 type ratios, since you've got the overdrive top gear back again.

A mate has a 6spd and is running a 3.64:1 which seems to be good for a road car.

What engine? I pull away in second most of the time and my ratios are longer than thatjmc330i wrote:A mate has a 6spd and is running a 3.64:1 which seems to be good for a road car.
If its a 2.8 engine you dont want anything shorter than a 3.25 IMO/experience for a road car

I had a 3.91 and a 4.1 on my 6 speed M42 both were to short in my opinion, I have a 3.07 to go in an I'm hopeing this will make 6th a real over drive just for cursing on the motorway as with the other two diffs 80mph was around 3.5k-4k with the 3.07 it should drop to around 2.5-2.8k which will be better for economy and quiter as my car was 89bd inside on the way back from the German show for 4hrs it was a killer.

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

He's got an S50 in it now, but he originally did an M52 conversion with the M3 6spd and 3.91 LSD from my Sport. I wanted my LSD back, so he found a 3.64 as he said he wanted it a little bit longer than the 3.91, but didn't want to kill acceleration too much.
