Currently trying to put the last few sensory bits/wires on my M10 in the E21 so i can fill it with fluid and turn the key. However, due to work, weather and general procrastination its been that long since i pulled the original engine out Iv forgotten what goes where.

Are there any M10 pedos who might know if i put a photo up of the wires?

The engine is the one I bought off Rav which is a prefacelift 316 engine out an E30

In theory the loom is shaped and sized correctly to only reach where it needs to so place the loom in and let it sit in its natural direction and the should become a bit clearer.

Get a picture up still though as a few weirdos might be able to say whats what

Best bit would be to list the wire colours you have, so that we can check them against the wiring loom diagrams. That saves messing around with grainy gloomy photos and the like.

The brown one with the round terminal will probably be an earth.

Has the carb got a fuel cut-off solenoid? If so, find out which wire is live when the ignition is switched on, as it will probably be for that.

I am certain the fat green one goes to the distributor, green and brown with rubber nodder goes to oil pressure switch.

Thankfully it is a LONG time since I have been subjected to one of these sad turds ! BUT I am going to take an educated guess that the earth and single green/purple go to the carb (as the carb is rubber mounted it will not be earthed through the engine) and the twin wire single female spade will go to the temp gauge switch . The twin wire with the non spade type plug MAY go to the choke As stated previously, if routed CORRECTLY the wires will be roughly long enough to go to where they should . Extra wire = extra cost = less profit.

As Maurice stated earlier, if in doubt, get your test light out.
