I have heard of the front seats from the E36 being fitted in the E30 before, has anyone ever attempted fitting the rear seats or is it impossible.
I saw a this subject on the forum before but was unable to find it again.

I have seen it a couple of times. Seems to be a straight fit, but I have not tried it myself.
Do you have a breakers near to you? See if they will lend you a drivers seat for 20 mins and trial fit it.

I wouldn't fit them, was just wondering if they did fit or had been tried as I have never seen any images of it been done on the net.ross_jsy wrote:Wait you have never sent the rear seats from an e36 but you want to fit them to your car?Fastroad wrote:Never seen the rear seats from an E36
(I personally can not be asked to even change the orange indicators to aftermarket ones let alone exchange an interior lol)

I thought the general consensus about any newer seats is that they're all too wide for the E30?

The E30 guys in the US seem to like it, as said before they fit with custom brackets .
Here's one way of doing it :

Believe it or not e36 compact rear seats fit an e30 with a bit of work. We've just put leather ones in my mates cromie. The backs have to be screwed through the rear firewall and the seat back goes up higher than a std e30 which looks quite nice. You need to fab a couple of brackets to bolt on the ends of the rear shelf area so that the side bolsters can hook over and as the seat comes up higher the rear shelf will need to be modified or a new one made from mdf. The pattern of compact rear leather ie stiches going sideways not vertical is the same as e30 convertible so compact rear seats and leather e30 cab fronts looks great
