Have you not really clocked onto the fact that adjustable coilovers for the E30 can't really be bought off the shelf and cost a hideous amount of money unless you want to fabricate your own?Junglistjed wrote:How much would a pair of coilovers cost for a 316?

The real question is, why do you want adjustable coilovers for a 316? Are you going to take it on track days?

Where did you get the word adjustable from?

If you're not going to adjust them, why get them at all?

If the damper and spring are combined into one unit, that is a coilover. The front of an E30 has coilover suspension, the rear doesn't, because the spring and damper aren't in one unit. However, when the majority of people who shouldn't be working on their cars talk about coilovers, they are referencing the adjustable coilover that is so popular amongst those who like to slam their cars.
You can get the front down much more than 40mm on normal lowering springs if you want, I even have some I could sell you. However, you'll struggle with the rear, especially on a pre-facelift.

Sums it up nicely. Your car already has mad coiloverz on the front from factory innit.

Yeah you can definately lower more than 40mm on springs, see below

I reckon bout 80-100mm? Not saying the ride was good or that the shocks liked it but you can do it.

^ Exactly, never mind that fact you can't see it when you're driving. It's totally worth runing the driving experience so some shallow cunt nuggets in hats can tell you it looks dope. Oh, and that when you get out, you can turn around and see that a piece of trim has popped out due to the lack of suspension travel.
Maybe you could post a picture of an arbitary object infront of your subframe to show how low you're running?

I use them on the road (commuting down the M4) and they were bouncy due to small dips etc., then I turned the dampers up and the bouncey ness has practically gone. The rear springs are quite hard (not a clue on figures) apparently, but generally these aren't really geared up for the road. My spine is taking a pounding most daysharry_p wrote:They seem to be very bouncy on the road. as if the dampers cant control the springs properly. A lot of people seem to get them to work well on track though.
Getting the rears serviced at Gaz was also a help, and their service is very good & quick.
