Hi, found rust. Quite a bit of rust in the usual places (pics to follow when I get the cover off etc next year).
Have welded in past but what sort of spec for a mig welder should I be looking at?
Rust is;
top lip of inner wing and ns scuttle
Sills various places
Behind head lamps
NSF floor corner
Both inner arches (seen from inside with door cards off)
Osr inner arch where joins to inner arch
Rear towing eye.
Sounds a lot but worth saving as I can't drive modern toss and like it
Any help with welding spec or tips greatly received
Welding advice?

0.6mm wire on a MIG that can go down to about 40Amps, with 0.8mm steel to weld in. Check out my resto thread to see how it's done (by a complete amateur)

Thanks, I have welded but years ago just wanted some zone advise from someone who had repaired similar areas as to how powerful a device I would need. I shall give the thread a look...

For thin body panels you usually want the lowest power setting. When buying my welder a few years ago I hd to spend a bit more to get one with more power settings, not for the top end, but for a lower low level.
I'd have thought inner arches and floor pan would be more like 1mm with outer panels being 0.8?

I did the floor pan and inner wing with 1mm and you could clearly feel it was thicker than the existing metal.
