Why do you want to install a lambda Sensor....is it required in your country?

You would need to fit an exhaust with a catalytic convertor fitted and I believe a "Carbon Purge Canister and Valve" at the engine block although I think the latter is optional. Also a Relay for the O2 sensor and the O2 sensor and heater.

The ECU I believe is the same but there is a one-wire connector laying in the section in front of the windscreen...Gray/Black wires...that needs to be dis-connected if using a cat.

Unless it is required by law in your country I do not know why anybody would like to fit all this nonsense and lose some precious power on the M40 engine! :o

no it is not required in my country, if it is cut a few hp on my engine i don't want to install it.

but there are a few afm that without co poti adjustment some with a pot without a screw inside after I openened a bung, so I'm interesting to experience how the feel of using lambda sensor with an afm without co poti.

I've run my current 318i both with and without a lambda connected, with an AFM with the CO pot and without (connecting the wire for the CO pot where necessary) and I didn't notice any difference.

If you really want to fit a lambda, you don't need an expensive 'cat' exhaust, just a bung welded to your existing exhaust downpipe - the lambda is basically fitted to keep the emissions to level where the cat will work (and not be damaged by excessively high emissions).
The carbon canister is also not needed, although may show a fault code (if an M40 ECU is that sophisticated), but leaving the carbon canister sensor connected will solve that, or I believe BMW will sell you a socket with a resistor fitted to keep the ECU happy - both my M40 and S50 have run happily with nothing connected at all.
