No such thing as "for the Polish market". We were still Communist during the 325e's production run. 99% of all E30s in Poland will have been imported from Germany; most of them post-2004, like mine (we imported over a million cars in 2004).
I don't know of any made-for-UK 325e's, but I have seen a few people on here who own imported ones.

There are very few, and even less people who want one. Its a 325 that goes like a 320 and uses slightly less petrol if you sit at a constant 56 mph.

Easy enough to convert them to proper 200bhp 2.7 spec though, I imagine, with a 325i head instead of the strangled eco one.

They go very well with loads of sub 3500 rpm grunt and driven carefully will do nigh on 40 mpg on a run. For everyday use they're a nicer car than the 325i and are vastly better than the 320i. 80 mph is around 2500 rpm.pacerpete wrote:There are very few, and even less people who want one. Indeed! I love my '87 super eta. It still surprises me how easy it cruises with and past everyday traffic barely ever crossing 2.500 rpm. It's very relaxing, especially with an automatic.Andyboy wrote:They go very well with loads of sub 3500 rpm grunt and driven carefully will do nigh on 40 mpg on a run. 80 mph is around 2500 rpm.pacerpete wrote:There are very few, and even less people who want one. There's a comparison with the Maserati Bi-turbo here:

Not sure if all 325e's were super eta's or not but the ones that are have an 885 head same as a 325i so its a case of camshaft, inlet and ecu from a 325i and away you go.Speedtouch wrote:Easy enough to convert them to proper 200bhp 2.7 spec though, I imagine, with a 325i head instead of the strangled eco one.
Would be more like 190bhp though as the 325i cam is very tame.

The 325e wants leaving alone. Having driven one, I prefer it to the 325i.

No they where not! From '87 bmw changed from the 200 to 885 head with revised inlet to fit the new head and 325i exhaust manifolds, ditched the dreaded waterheated idle control valve, different camshaft, pistons and Motronic 1.1 thus raising power slightly to 127 hense the term super eta.bss325i wrote:Not sure if all 325e's were super eta's or not but the ones that are have an 885 head same as a 325i so its a case of camshaft, inlet and ecu from a 325i and away you go.Speedtouch wrote:Easy enough to convert them to proper 200bhp 2.7 spec though, I imagine, with a 325i head instead of the strangled eco one.

Dont forget the 325i injectors, aiflowmeter and dubble valve springs cause all eta's have single ones.

While we are on the subject of eta's one guy at work heard about my M30 conversion and he keeps telling me to ditch the M30 and get a 2.5eta engine and do the head work, because it has a 2.7 bottom end basically.. also saying it will be much lighter on the front end and basically ready to drop into an E30..
Im still sticking with my M30..lol

i'd go for that 2.7 conversion but adding the M30 injectors and AFM is a easy way of getting a good increase in BHP

M30 weighs 143kg, versus the M20's 117kg, so not that much of a weight saving to be had...
