A few sick individuals and myself have been trying to track down oem bolster cloth.

UPHOLSTERY CLOTH ANTHRAZITH51920
Part number: 51921933101

It has been discontinued by BMW but shows up on American websites...

http://www.bmwpartsupply.com/OEMParts/b ... 33101.html

Has anyone got there hands on new bolster cloth or am I wasting my time?

was just on the phone to bmw when i read this, so asked- shows as cloth .. NLA , so they said cant help

wonder what would happen on that usa one if you ordered and payed - ie get a refund told nla or if its a bit of found old stock maybe, if your depserate for it id order it and see , before someone else does as youve posted this up !

but- im sure a textile company could produce some cloth like this, send off some samples (old bits from worn seats) and see what they can do, im sure plenty of zoners would want some

Emailed two American sites that listed it as 'in stock' only to be told it is discontinued and them removing the listing.

There's a black recaro cloth which is the same thread structure but is obviously darker. I had been planning on going that way.... (god when I read this, I sound like such a coont)

I wouldn't even know how to get cloth reproduced to be honest with you Karl and I would bet my left man sack that no where in Ireland does it! :(

me neither, but - you google "textile/cloth/material suppliers/makers, etc etc , plenty of sites out there, you show some detailed pics maybe, ask if they could re produce a roll, how much roughly , etc, and get to a stage of some saying "yes" and wanting a sample, then send samples to the ones that are sounding like a good bet and buy a roll, presume they may send a sample back before making the final roll

tbh i have no idea, but presume thats how it goes, and there must be a few suppliers/producers of repro cloth in the uk for older classic cars and bmws maybe , who could help, its just a case of putting in the leg work yourself and doing the do and sorting it out

BMW operate their parts supply on the basis of known demand,so if enough people ask for a specific item, they will get it re-manufactured.
This has happened over the past few years with front indicator 'glass',front/rear brake back plates as just three examples.
Snag with this is that the parts are re-made by the thousand, not the million,so the price rises accordingly.

I see two options for you sick types who must have this particular trim item.
1. Pester Munich via your local dealer.
2. Find a good quality car trimmer and see if he/she can source up a close match.
Youth is wasted on the young.

companies like this, its a case of finding as good a match as possible by searching, sending samples, etc, or if they can re produce it

I've dealt with Westtrading and they where as useful as a set of tit's on a bull

(matched the bolster cloth to black cloth from a Hyundai Pony which was no where close). Reproducing cloth is what they do and I can't imagine any other company being any more use?

I can't see pestering Munich into producing this cloth happening, the trimmer matched the cloth to this recaro cloth but its too dark.

The issue is if you change one bolster , you will need to change all of the non houndstooth cloth as at this stage it is all faded and quite different to what it was 25 years ago. This being the case, near enough is surely good enough ?

The other option is to come and buy my houndstooth stash. I guarantee I have more of the nasty stuff than you will ever use or need. Lots of excellent bolsters / door cards/ back seats etc . Its RARE ! :D

I have 10 meter's of brand spanking new houndstooth and complete set(s) of faded bolsters. I don't want to fire faded material beside new stuffz :(

and I don't think dying them will cut the mustard.

Although more houndstooth is always nice!
