For a while now my e30 has been flooding. The flooded area is located behind the passenger seat (N/S) it started as a light wetness but is now a full puddle. I have not yet removed the carpet but I got it back enough to find a small rusty spot with a small hole in front of the passenger under the dash. I fixed this thinking it was the source but it wasn't. Does anyone know what it could be? Also car does not have an 'elephant trunk' fitted as it never came with one.

Thanks

There is a removable round plate in the floorpan on each side, directly under the centre of each front seat. These frequently come loose, or one of the fixing lugs rusts off.

Will this require me to remove the carpet? (Which I may have to do to dry it)

You can inspect it from underneath, but to reseal or replace it you need to work from the top.
Carpet will fold/lift up from the rear corner enough to access the plate, after removing the obvious.

You will have to remove the carpet to fully dry as it has very thick rubberised foam that loves to hold the moisture in.
