Hi guys . I know this question has been asked a few times and i have done a topic search but still not sure . Last night i ran my Sport until the fuel guage needle was past the white mark after the red section . I filled up with fuel and it would only take 48.55 litres . Now allowing for a bit of fuel in the tank surely this cant be a 55litre tank . I even made a point of filling it so i could see fuel right to the top of the neck . Did some Sports possibly only have a 50 litre tank ? It looks original but i guess could possibly have been replaced .

Fuel light should come on with 6 litres left, and you don't say it came on, so either it was very close to coming on or you have a 62 litre tank.
The needle goes right back past the red painted bit onto the bit that lights up before the light comes on.
This is BMW quality engineering. Trust the light!

Aahh now that i didnt know . I thought the needle went down to the painted section and onto the white line and that was when the light would come on . I didnt realise the needle would go into the illuminated section .
Thanks for the help guys . :D
