Hi all I have a problem with a touring (I mention this as the headlining is different)

The sunroof is stuck, and winding the motor manually is just giving me a very unsatisfying spinning action :(

Question is can I remove the head lining and motor and get the sunroof out some other way? I have not investigated, so it may all become apparant on closer inspection.

Any help much appreciated though.

Touring has an inverted tray type headliner.

It's just plain fiddly to remove, every single trim item that touches it needs to come out, work slowly at the trim,as breaking fixing tabs off means it has to go back with Tiger Seal or black headed self tappers. There's two cunningly hidden screws at the forward end of the sunroof aperture, these will really give you grief if you cannot open the sunroof, but the plastic blocks that they screw into should part at their glue joint with the tray.Once you have the bloody thing loose all round, you will see that it clips into the roll bar over the rear doors, then slides out through the tailgate.

I'm facing a similar task after 'er indoors took the Micra through a car wash,it's a very late K11 with a front mounted roof aerial!

Thanks Malc, the car is a breaker, so sacrificing the headlining and a few bits is acceptable. My aim is to remove the sunroof panel, so all I need to do is be able to tilt it up to access the 6 torx screws.

I just need to know if removing the motor will help me move the sunroof.

Removing the motor will mean that the cables will be able to slide freely, but it will also mean that they can get out of sync. with each other.
I've never failed to open one yet by slackening off the big nut to remove the drive from the motor, inserting an allen key into the centre of the gearbox shaft, then tapping down the rear of the roof with a fist while leaning on the allen key with the other hand, but I've never yet had to open one that some muppet had siliconed shut, as yours might be.!

I dont think its siliconed Brian, someone has been in there before me as the access panel was removed. It feels as though the gears are stripped.
