Yes, the 325iS was a SA built model (with 2.7 M20 and M3 suspension among over things). But there was also a 325iS for the USA and AUS market, which was a similar model to our 325i Sport.

I checked the VIN of mine at the dealer which is the only way of telling for sure if it left the showroom as a Sport (or 325iS in this case). I'd guess a dealer down under would be able to do the same??

That said, S206 FUENF-GANG-SPORTGETRIEBE - 5 spd sports gear. That's the close ratio sports box, so its possible its a genuine one.

Sport is a UK only version, other(lesser?) :D markets had a similar spec called S or M-packet,I understand.

Apart from all the goodies, map lights, sport seats,LSD,bodykit and so on,UK 'sport' also had a 3:91 (LSD)diff and a close ratio version of the standard 'box.So reading off the gearbox and diff type codes will help to indentify the S claim.

Same as a uk sport, the sport isn't a model type but a combined trim package of options.

There is no specific 'sport' vin as such.
cheers,

You're thinking of the South African model pukar, and even then it's only the Evo versions which also have 5-stud M3 setups.

All the SA 325iS's had five stud suspension, jap spec M3 suspension to be precise.

Out of interest, what's the difference between this and the euro M3 suspension?
