Hi, I am wanting to lubricate the roof mechanism before I press the roof button. Not sure of the best way to do this? Roof hasn't been operated for a couple of years, so I need to open it manually first perhaps?

While it is up, and locked in place, with the ignition off, you need to disengage both of the operating motors in the boot. This will allow you to unlock the roof, pushing it back slightly, raise the rear screen section and also raise the horseshoe.
You can then access the storage compartment to lubricant the rods and any bits of the roof frame. Once you have done this, lock the roof in its closed position and re-engage both motors in the boot. Do the right hand side one first.

I would be wary of raising the roof at all in the current UK temperatures, if it's been folded that long. Folded plastic windows might not like being straightened out in cold weather.

Thanks for the info gents, should have said the roof is currently in the up position ATM. In the tool pack there seems to be a metal rod with a grey plastic end, is this the tool to disengage the motors? If so it looks like the end has been broken so what does the end look like?
Cheers,

This sounds like the road wheel locating tool. When refitting a road wheel you push the grey plastic end into one of the wheel bolt holes in the hub, then slide the wheel into place along the metal rod.Flute wrote:In the tool pack there seems to be a metal rod with a grey plastic end.

That rod can be used to disengage the main roof motor (right side one) the non-plastic end fits
Into the hole and then you pull down - if I recall correctly.

Also used as the handle for the spark plug socket. Seems to be a very versatile rod!Gert_8 wrote:That rod can be used to disengage the main roof motor (right side one) the non-plastic end fits

Thankyou gents, as you can probably tell I'm new to this model and I'm really looking forward to bringing her back to her former glory. This forum is proving invaluable to me ATM.
Thanks again,
