replaced the batter at the weekend and a my neighbour who is a ex mechanic spotted a fuel leak, so he replaced the fuel hose/pipe but said that its ruined my alternator, is this possible.

Where's the best place to get a alternator for a 325i sport 1990 would it be Eurocar parts (limited budget)

thanks in advance

Only if the fuel leak was into the alternator, which subsequently caught on fire.
Sure he didn't mean the duff battery may have damaged the alternator?
Either way, it's unlikely the alternator is damaged, unless it was faulty all along, and led to the demise of the battery.
What makes you think (other than your neighbour) that the alternator is faulty?

I had coolant leaking all over the alternator, i didnt realise until the car died slowly on a journey... eventually fixed the hose but it still showed as 10 volts charging,

i just ran around with a spare battery and a jump pack for a few weeks, however eventually it seemed to sort itself and dried out and now its at a steady 14.4
