Hi all, been putting it off for a while but no longer, i need to get a new roof as mine done for!
Ive seen 2 options, one is for a Mohair at around £400
the other ive not seen before, 'Haartz Stayfast Cloth' at around £250.
has anyone had any experience with the stayfast option? are they worth the saving? link added below (if it works)

convertible roof options

yeah both prices are based on myself fitting it, the mohair would be the safe option as they are known but just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the stayfast cloth
no, to be honest ive not even looked at my roof to see how its all held together yet, but its not something i would rush into though and have managed all other aspects of building my E30.
I do feel confident in doing a good job with it but as i say, ive not looked into how its done yet

yeah will do, i have a custom roof company behind my work who have quoted £700 all in and fitted but if i can do it myself it will be worth the PITA
but if anyone has had experience with the above stayfast roofs though, id like to have some feedback

Mohair is the only type to have mate. I suspect anything else will affect the value of your car, if that sort of thing interests you of course.
I had mine replaced by carhood warehouse in Surrey. I think it was about £550. Good luck with yours. I'd love to pics.

The carhood warehouse site is actually quoting £453.00 inc VAT for a mohair roof. I had swatches delivered for the materials and colours. At the time the choice was either mohair (the more expensive) or canvas, which looked a bit cheap TBH. Are you sure "sonnenland" is just a german name for the equivalent Mohair...?

Don't know if this mohair link helps ....

Gert ... tried 3 places here in Denmark, Sweden and north Germany and was quoted for canvas or the more expensive option was "original sonnenland".

Hi GBDN, I suppose if you go to the dealers for a roof they may supply it using the material you have. That would be a very expensive option in my opinion, hence the fact I used the people I stated.
The mohair material is excellent.

Sonnenland is a brand name and it's really good stuff. I had one done on a Karmann Cabrio a few years back. It ain't cheap but it's worth it.
I got mine direct from Mayer in Germany, they offer different options and you can find them here;

The weave looks very similar to mohair
