Hey all.

My car has a power steer rack, but no pump so the steering is bloody heavy.

Is there a non-power steering rack I could fit to make it a bit less manly (I guess mine is actually heaver than a non-PAS rack at the moment?), or; what do I need to re-fit a power steering pump and what-not?

I guess it's been removed for track use, but it's insanely hard to steer at the moment..

why not buy a power steering pump (and other bits if needed) they can be bought fairly cheap from our friendly traders on here, drop magpie, b7 or adit etc etc a note

That's what I'm asking I guess - what do I need / what is likely to have been removed?

North, near Basingstoke.

Thanks for the offer. How much do you want for it? I think ideally I'd rather go back to power steering, but I'm not totally against having a basic rack in there.

Find a breaker and take what you don't have. Hardly rocket surgery :D

Fit the rest of the power steering setup. The e30 manual rack is like something off a yacht

Do you still have the mounting stuff for a ps pump? If not buy the relevant bits from BMW and buy a known good pump from the good feedback traders on here.

Otherwise use the wiki to research alternative options

Just buy the power steering bits, the manual e30 rack has even more turns than the already p!ss poor power steering one.

Or man up, they aren't that bad with no P/S
