I'm going to look at a 1989 e30 325i next week, and it needs a new battery. I have a 316i touring battery - will that fit in just to get me home?
Is the battery on the 325i in the boot or up front?
Any advice will be appreciated. Don't want to buy a battery before seeing the car and it's out in the sticks, miles from me.
Cheers

Battery from the 316 will be fine. I have a little Peugot 106 battery here that I keep for firing up battery-less BMWs, and even that does the job adequately.
If the 325i is a saloon, the battery should be in the boot, on the right.

As long as the charging system works, then a 316i battery will be fine.
325i Touring should be in the boot.

Perhaps 'boot' is polak for 'under the bonnet?Brianmoooore wrote:??? You might want to edit that, Grr!Grrrmachine wrote: 325i Touring should be in the boot.

I was thinking "touring battery, touring boot, 325i touring, battery in boot," and then I made myself look like an idiot...

Oh, cool!
Looks like I won't need the battery now. There was someone selling a three door '89 325i that needs a new battery, timing belt, and a new MOT, so I made an offer as suggested - they refused my offer and are going to scrap the car!!!!
I asked if my offer was unacceptable, what would they take instead, but they're still going to scrap it.........don't understand at all!
