Rain and Light sensor. Bss325i - is this a question for you?

Yet again issues with my e46 turd....

I've just had my windscreen replaced due to minor accident... only issue is my rain sensor / auto wipe function is no longer working... figures.

I've checked the connection to the bonded rain sensor under the mirror and it all seems fine. I've tried to reinitialize the sensor with INPA with no luck, still doesn't work.

This is a screen shot from INPA, see how all the values are in red? What does this mean?



Please help before I torch this car...

Ok double checked today when coming home from work, the Autolights are working. Just the rain sensor is not....

Also getting error code;
64 none optical initialisation possible

Have you tried to initialise the wipers via the car and not inpa?

Also, do those figures change when water is sprayed over the RLS?

It's quite common for aftermarket screens to cause RLS issues.

How do I initialize the wipers via the car? And no, those figures stay at 255! constantly even when I spray with water, the light sensor works however.

TBH, if those figures are not changing at all the i would say the sensor has not be installed correctly or the glass is wrong for a car with RLS.

You know, when they fitted the glass I thought it looked darker than the original one... I dunno.

Anyway they are coming out to look at it on Tuesday to see if they can get it working, if not they will replace it there and then.

Ok update, they came out and changed the glass to a Pilkington piece, rain sensor worked right away.!

Cheap aftermarket chinese shite that was installed was the problem.
