What is the best stuff to use to replicate the factory seam seal on the top of the wing where it meats the scuttle?

id say go with a bead of polyurethane from a cartridge (tiger seal etc) or the 3m seam sealer 03857
all other brushable seam sealer ive used crack when applied at the oem thickness you want

I've used 3M sealer everywhere else. I didn't know it came in a
tube, I'll look into that. Only problem with that is it's not
going to painted yet. Maybe some black silicone for now will be best
Cheers

I would not bother. Later M3s did not have it and you will never replicate the factory look exactly.

It's not because I'm some OEM homo, it's more because I have an issue with water getting between the wing and scuttle and ending up under the bonnet!! I assumed thats why they were sealed.pacerpete wrote:I would not bother. Later M3s did not have it and you will never replicate the factory look exactly.

have a look between the end of the scuttle and start of the wing (top edge) under the rubber strip, on mine there was a small gap allowing water was run along the gutters and then down into the battery tray.
also if the wings off its worth taking a look at the scuttle drains which pass from the scuttle and through the inner arch if there blocked they could be causing a water build up
as for the sealant there are all sort of coloured urethane for about a £her all are over paintable.
