Passed the MOT on monday with flying colours. The only advisory was water starting to get into the rear number plate. Winner!

The car is now for sale, a full for sale advert is coming soon along with my front and rear big brake kit!

So yeah... the R32 GTR I was buying fell through so I'm still rocking my E30.

Recently spent some dollar on carbon fibre and upgraded my car rig...

The car is currently sat washed, waxed and back to blacked. I might find somewhere and do a decent shoot with it tomorrow - it's been a while since i've got some half decent pics of it. Apart from these:

Car is FILTHY here :(

Spent some dollar on some shiny Predator exhaust pipes and RandomDave /Astbury Motorworks had the pleasure of fitting it

Image

Monkey has been waving his magic wand and done the odd bit of bodywork, e46 rack and more bits on it.

I've fitted some reconditioned injectors that i sent away to injector tune.

Messed around when I took the front end off again

Image

I've finally bought the senders to fit the auxiliary gauges that i've had stashed away for around 4 years :D

And yesterday I got it back on the dyno for a power run again and it made 235bhp, 230ftlbs. 13bhp increase from the exhaust. I'm pretty happy with that!

I'm about, I just tend not to post unless it's in the photography thread. It's got a lovely tone to it! Sounds like a complete animal over 5k!

I've only got a crap instagram video at the moment of it -

Considering that the photography thread appears to have gone (again)”¦

A long time ago I shelled out some dollar on a lighting setup, yesterday it finally arrived!

I've only been out for a couple of test shots and it seems to be pretty good! I couldn't really move the left hand light further around the car because I didn't fancy it being hit by a cyclist or a car! The car is filthy too, fortunately it doesn't look bad in the photos.

I've also been machining up a sump adaptor for my oil temperature sender. I bought an LMA one, but the sender doesn't fit in it. If I bore out the internal diameter it'll only leave it with a wall thickness of around 1mm at the sump thread. So i've made one out of stainless rather than the brass LMA one!

I can't complain too much about the price!

Ever since I bought the car i've wanted an alpina front valance (yes i have hartge wheels, I didn't think it through that well). Does anybody know if you have to drill the original valance in places that are obvious if I end up removing it when I smack it on a speed bump or a curb?

Wee bit of an update. I've fitted an underseat sub to the car now to give the audio a bit more quality and i'm pretty impressed with the results at the moment! Rebuilt the locks but having trouble changing the ignition lock :( I've had the s52 sticks put in and Monkey also gave the vanos a bit of a seeing to and fitted a new cat 1 alarm + immobiliser. Although I only had the vanos seal replaced a couple of years ago it had already worn, good job I had another one to stick on. It was clear to see that a new one made the vanos a bit more positive! There was a slight vanos rattle on idle sometimes too, so new thrust washers, plate and bolts were all put in to replace the worn one - no more rattle and its a bit punchier low end again now :D It's been running on the cool side too, so another genuine stat was put in and its back to normal again. Oh and a new steering joint bought from Rally Prep!

In no particular order:

Also been back to predator to have the bagpipes fettled.

Image

And got a half decent shot of my stereo. I ran in new cables with a new electric aerial + switch while sorting out the sub considering the old aerial was only there for show (no power to it and some bell cheese had cut the coaxial connector off anyway!)

Image

New oil filter housing from the dealers (im running m50 setup on it)

Image

Big thanks to Monkey / Bovey Court Garage for doing a top job on the car again and grabbing pics along the way :D

It's just occurred to me that this day 6 years ago the original m40 was being pulled out. The car currently has no carpet after I pulled it out for some small patches of welding (I was honestly expecting worse). Yesterday I used the wet vac on the carpet and mats!

My exhaust is still leaking, nearly 2 years after having it fitted. In the end Predator still refused to remove and remake the clamping sections, started getting a bit aggressive with me and threatening to charge me. The welds on the backbox are rusting and it's still banging the underneath of the car when the exhaust heats up too. I could go on for longer about it but frankly I can't be bothered.

The suspension is knackered too, so I've got a b12 kit sat waiting to be fitted in just over a weeks time! It's recently had the secondary timing chain tensioner replaced, all the vanos giblets replaced with new piston etc as well as the thrust bits that were done last time.

I trial fitted my big brake kit and found my adaptors wouldn't let me run the hartges, fortunately I bought some more off Dan recently and they fit alot better, calipers just need a little bit of fettling and then I can repaint them!

Talking of onwards and upwards...

Image

Last night I picked up the new engine - E46 m3 s54b32. The plan is do to precaution things like the rod bearings + arp bolts, vanos rebuild, oil pump shaft upgrade to the engine. I'll be fitting a lightweight flywheel, keeping the e46 m3 gearbox and doing a few bits here and there.

Although this will probably take me a while to do it properly, it will get done eventually!

Thanks :D can I ask what provisional things you are doing before it goes in? I assume what I've listed and then new plugs, thermostat, etc?

Just did this job myself last night :D

That looks a handy tool, I dont suppose you compared the stretch reading to the recommended torque figure did you ajay?

Yes i did Dan, i had the big end bearings replaced and arp bolts fitted a couple of years ago,but the mechanic that did the work did not have a strech gauge & torqued up as per instructions on the packet, the stretch gauge shows they were under the recommended stretch parameters & the shells that were fitted although not worn were not original parts....a˜³, no harm done, and the right time to find out if you know what i mean. Glad i made the effort.a˜Š

Not many seem to make the shells from my searches, ended up using the dealers myself at a nice price

I've had the luxury of running my engine in a previous E30, and although it ran without fault i wanted to ensure it was as good as i could get it and have a reference point for levels of internal ware before i "nail the crap out of it" so to speak. I am replacing the main bearings/bolts, big end bearings/arp's, re fitting the original oil pump ( was previously run with the M50 sump/pump) checking the oil pump & sprocket nut ( mine was not as tight as i expected & had no locktite), cam sprocket bolts, shims & replacing servicable parts. Basically trying to reduce the chances of something going wrong which i have experienced previously, and although the cost of thos sort of thing does mount up, its cheap in comparison to dealing with a blown M power engine...good luck with it!

I've seen vac motorsports do a coated bearing set, I'm guessing dealer bearings won't be that much different in price because of m tax?
