This light is constantly on if I pop it up n down a few times it switches off but then back on again it's very annoying could something be loose and is it a simple fix .

Dodgy switch on handbrake itself, also check brake fluid. Not sure on e30's, but e36's handbrake light came on when brake fluid was low.

Handbrake light on an E30 is for the handbrake only, and as diable says, the switch is VERY basic. Chances are that the tinned end of the wire has slipped out from where it should be clamped, and is earthing against random metal bits.

No it doesn't, the e36 has the same three light layout as the e30.GB69 wrote:Dodgy switch on handbrake itself, also check brake fluid. Not sure on e30's, but e36's handbrake light came on when brake fluid was low.
Circle with a P in the middle and a 1/4 circle line each side - handbrake on
Circle with exclamation mark in the middle and 1/4 circle line each side - brake fluid low
Circle with a perforated 1/4 circle line each side - brake pads low
