I have a 4-dr and it is every bit as good as a 2-dr EXCEPT it is a tad more practical when it comes to carrying people or things...
Cars are worth what people want to pay for them. Whatever you might say, I reckon that I will be able to sell my car for what it owes me...It is a decent example and a more unusual model than most around today.

As far as I am aware, BMW will make you pretty much any car you want (within the bounds of reason), provided you have an unlimited budget.Simon wrote:I would imagine some of it may have been fitted at the factory, if not at the dealers.tomson wrote:Would that have been as "factory options" as new Simon?

For definite....if you're willing to spend the money, they'd put it together!DieselMeister wrote:As far as I am aware, BMW will make you pretty much any car you want (within the bounds of reason), provided you have an unlimited budget.Simon wrote:I would imagine some of it may have been fitted at the factory, if not at the dealers.tomson wrote:Would that have been as "factory options" as new Simon?

ive done an RAC check on most of the cars ive seen on ebay, and i have had a 4 door come back as the 325i sport it was advertised as
so either bmw did make a limited supply of 4 door sports
or
you can/used to change the spec on the V5, remember these cars are almost 20 years old, the dvla 20 years ago may have let you change more than you can now

i believe there were no 4 door sports but...if you have ever registered a vehicle from new (as the dealer does) and filled the forms in you can put in nearly what you like ie if the car came wit all the sport bits on it and the dealer writes sport on the v5 application then the dvla will register it just as that ....dont forget the dvla never get to see the car at all and they seem to trust the dealer(as many of us dont) yes the chassis number will say its a 2/4 door but little miss jones who left school last year and who was out clubbing last night just might not know what it is/was and believe me this is very common i have seen some funny entries on log books as well as seeing cars registered as bikes like a honda cbr 900 4 door saloon

My sport has 325i sport on the log book. plus the service book and every other piece of history i have with it.
But people get confused becasue when u trot along to your dealer and get your car spec printout it doesn't actually say 325isport anywhere.
Just an option saying M technik sportpaket, which means when this was ticked the car became a sport.
Officially they were only available as 2 doors, but with everything BMW they say one thing and do another!

It comes from this car on ebay guys.....??
the 4door sport was never made well certainly not in the uk
you could however have what you wanted providing you was going to pay for it
just because it has the kit does that make it a sport
my 320 has
Tech 2 kit for a f4 door (dearler fitted)
leather (factory fitted)
obc (its se spec so gona have it)
lsd ( fitted by me)
map lights (fitted my me)
but does that make it a sport
In a word no
and another thing
the sport on the phase 2 didnt come out untill f plate so the kit on this e plate isnt factory fitted or dearler fitted because it was never about at the time
seats are also an after thought because the carpet is brown and the door cards aint what comes with leather

'Sport' is just a name though at the end of the day, nothing to get hung up about. If you bought a dolphin grey 2 dr with factory fitted kit, roof lining, sport seats, obc LSD etc then it is essentially a sport except in name. Who gives a fuck what is says on the log book......
I own a sport by the way, but to be honest I wish I had just bought a kitted 325i with a slipper for half the money.

Well it's the wrong colour for a start. Motorsports weren't made in that colour and I fail to see the point in spending the money to make a 318i look like a motorsport. It would probably cost the same as just buying a real one and it wouldn't depreciate like a toyed with 318 would.stevetigger wrote:But when im finished with it..............It will be a full MotorsportSimon13 wrote:but who are u kidding? only yourself!stevetigger wrote:By the feedback, When I slip a 325i into my convertible, Im going to sent off the V5 and have them change it to be

That 4 door mutation on egay has the wrong kit for it's age too! What an abortion of a car and not in the least bit a sport.

Spending what money, I will keep it this colour or if I do spray it......I would do it an unusual colour. Not a common colour!E30Adam wrote:Well it's the wrong colour for a start. Its got the leather and electric hood, I know its not bubble leather but that a different story, I have plans for the interior!
And how do you work out my 318i on a late 'K' is depreciating when I will put a 2.5 engine in, In my opinion that will make it worth more!
Motorsport kit = Ԛ£650 MAX, jobs a goodun!
So far thats about Ԛ£2000 all in for what I want to do!
Motorsport convertible, good one Ԛ£6500
Lets do the math??
Mine would be an exact replica for less money, motorsport is just a name on a V5!
Get off ya little high horse Adam and stop attacking people!

Steve your car looks like a bright tidy chariot , if you want a cab with an engine why not sell yours and buy one ? . When you molest yours you still wont have a proper 325, you will have a mutant and it will be worth less than an original 325 or even a 318.

Speaking of a 4dr model 325iS like ours here in SA 9with the 2.7ltA1BMW325iSport wrote:this always comes up now and again, there are a few 4 doors spec'd as sports but none actually are, i bet all of them at bmw are listed as 325i SE's,
there was talk of a 4door Sport being made in another country but i don't know if that was confirmed or not.
dvla can change the name on the document, i did it for mine because i completely rebuilt the car as a 325i sport. although i would never use that for a bargaining point if i sold the car.
best way to confirm is to go to bmw with the chassis number
They made 5 prototypes, that were 4dr, had a bit of a weird kit on it, a mix of M-Tech 1 and 2. Had, a retro fitted M-Tech 2 front, and rear Valance, with a Tech 2 wing. and Tech 1 skirts, all this on the preface lift 4dr shell. It had the the 5 hole suspension, and 2.7lt motor... but a werid thing is they all had cloth interior.
Story goes is that BMW SA, sold the prototypes to directors and dealer major's... but I dunno. I did confirm that they did sell the 5 prototypes, but thats all they would tell me.
Iwas actually gonna buy one, and drove it ( ok it had a 2.8lt stoker in it) but to me it drove just like a 325iS Evo, with a little more ommph.
I've got a pic of it somewhere, lemme see if I can dig it up

I phoned the DVLA to chase them up when i was registering my 318iS. I told them the model, reg and chassis number. They told me that it's not an iS!!!!
I was stood there on the phone, looking at the chassis plate which was clearly stating 318iS and they still argued with me, (cos the "computer says no").
I get the new v5 a week later, it says 318iS......
Damned government agencies. About as efficient as Italians!!!!!!
