hi guys, i know this topic has been covered before but think my issue is slightly different and wondered if anyone could help.

The bower motor in my car has been pretty noisy / works intermittently so today i removed the old motor and went to install the 2nd had one i'd bought. The problem is that on the new motor the plastic fan blades dont seem far enough out on the spindle (i.e. they are sitting closer to the motor end on the spindle than on the old unit) and so i'm pretty sure that when i install it the blades are gonna rub on the casing where the unit sits (m42 engine)

does that make any sense? my questions is is there any way of moving the blades along the spindle or should i buy another unit?

You most likely dont need a replacement unit. Oiling your existing one to make it run freely should be more than enough. It may be that your 2nd hand one is the wrong kind, do you have aircon fitted, or did it come from a car with aircon?

hey mate i think the old one is knackered as there's a lot of up and down play / rattling on the shafts, no aircon on the car and the 2nd hand one is def the right one, same part no etc - pic below should show what i mean hopefully. Old unit on the right, new one on the left
