Good Morning,

I have decided to get some welding done on my car which will then be followed by some bodywork repairs before Christmas.

The welding I'm getting done ASAP is as follows:

-Both front jacking points
-Passenger side scuttle (the usual hole)
-Rear arch/sill area

How much would you think to have this work done?

I'm going to remove the SE side skirts and prob never put them back on again.

Cheers
James

Bear in mind that if by "jacking points" you mean "those crusty squares just behind the front wheel arches", then they should be very cheap to repair; just cut them out and plate them over. They're NOT jacking points, and it's probably using them as such that's caused the rust in the first place.

as jim says £200 should cover it, it does depend how much needs chopping out though,

But iv recently had the following work done, fabricated rear arches inner repairs both sides, and they were rotten as a pear! Also both front jacking points, and some patches along the inner sill both sides.

All this including fabrication and seam sealing was £250,

Thanks for the reposnses guys. He said about £75 for each jacking point. So I guess getting him to do a little more work would make everything indiviually be a little cheaper.

Whilst he is doing the scuttle I am going to get him to check the passenger inner front wing.

I will be expecting him to quote me between £200-250ish then.

Next up will be replacing both passenger side arches (new front wing and repair arch on back) and getting few little odds sprayed up. And all arches treated. Been quoted £500 for that!!

Yer, just get him to plate over the "jacking points" its an easy job once they are removed but make sure the welder seam welds the repairs inside and out

on the rear arches if he has to re-build the inner arch make sure the inner arch is welded (at minimum spot welded) to the outer arch at the lip - to retain the strength of the shell.

Don't forget to dissconnect the battery first !!

and we need

PICS!!?? Well I fully expect to be leaving it with him unfotunately!! I will remove the side skirts and the carpet in the boot. That way I should be able to at least do before and after photo's!!

Hoping that come spring next year I will be able to spend some money on some fun stuff!! 8)

if he quoted 75 a side for jacking pads...seems expensive to me, hes not going to do that all for another £50 , as scuttle and rear arch (depening how much) is probably more time consuming and skillful and messing about, welding prices will vary dependng on where you live and whos doing the job and their skills

but...with things like this, just book it pay the man what he wants dont quibble about a few quid, and enjoy it once its done and move on and dont mess about

seriously- ive seen e30s that are hanging wih a few hundred quids worth of welding desperatly neeeded, and the owers messing about buying blingy wheels and shit instead 8O 8O 8O

I'm in Bristol so guess prices would be higher than oop north. But not as pricey as london!!

Drove the car to work and was stressing about the crusty jacking points getting soaked with rain water again.

Yeah going to get welding sorted. Then I'm going to book the car in with the bodyshop for Xmas. Going to be a little present to myself. As well as a scorpion exhaust maybe?? 8)
